Northern Academy outdoor adventure program is designed to engage active campers in a healthy outdoor environment.  Campers will enjoy physical fitness, cooperation, outdoor skills, fresh air/sunlight and enjoyment of the great outdoors.

Enjoy the great outdoors, full of sunshine, exercise, and fresh air. Cook delicious food over a hand-built fire, we offer 21 levels of fire-making challenges from modern to primitive. Campers will learn to build pioneer/Native American style fires and learn various ways of starting the fires. We will enjoy cooking various snacks over the open fire we build.  Fire making is a craft and art that goes back thousands of years and is a classic American tradition.  It teaches campers outdoor skills, naturalist skills, and survival skills. It’s very empowering to start your own fire, maintain it and cook food over it. Food always tastes better from being cooked from an open flame fire!

Adventure Focus (AM)

In the morning, campers will also enjoy classical field games like pirate dodgeball and capture the flag! Or try your hand in athletic games like ultimate frisbee and basketball. Wilderness, survival, and naturalist skills are woven into this program.

Adventure Enrichment (PM)

We are excited to launch our marksmanship program, starting with progress levels in Archery. Campers will progress in skill level from 10 yards to 30 yards. Scores will be kept and level certificates awarded.  If there is interest and time, we will explore other marksmanship activities as well. Marksmanship skills, like archery, is an ancient and traditional skill that trains the mind to be calm and focused. Archery and other marksmanship activities are great skills for young adults to have which boost self-esteem as they learn new outdoor skills.

Outdoor Activities (PM)

Campers with other morning focus classes will get another chance to learn to build pioneer/Native American style fires and learn various ways of starting the fires.
