Math Prep is an introductory math course in the Northern Academy of the Arts’ middle school program, which bridges the student’s current level to enable him or her to take Math I. It seeks to build a foundation of basic computational fluency and number sense so that further foundation arithmetic and problem solving can be taught.

This course and primarily presents the fundamental concepts and skills underlying whole number operations (including finding LCM and GCD), decimals, and rudimentary fractions as well as basic problem solving. It serves as a prerequisite to Math I, where students will develop more competencies in arithmetic to begin pre-algebra.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of math in grades 3 to 5 by the end of Spring 2021
